Surprisingly well....

Well... my doctors visit didn't go exactly as I had hoped. I had a pregnancy test come back positive at home but many others and two blood tests come back negative. My lovely doctor (no sarcasm, I love her) said there weren't even trace amounts of the hormone in my blood so it was just a wacky test. So my nausea, moodiness, headachy, other totally pregnant symptoms weren't coming up for any good reason. Well... the doctor has re-diagnosed me with something she suspected years ago. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pcos . As my dr said it's basically a metabolic hormone issue and it's not very nice but also hard to treat and diagnose. She's put me on medication that should help level out my hormones and get my cycle going again and she's also referring me to an obgyn. Aside for the not so nice side effect of stomach issues that I had in the past with the medicine it should level my hormones, make getting pregnant actually possible, and aid in my weight loss (aside from the laxative side effect)... of course the #1 best thing to do with PCOS is to lose weight... go figure... ironic... oxymoronical...murphetic law.... whatever you want to call it...oh and lots of exercise... (yay i love it just when to do it!) oh yeah and a lowcarbdiet.... good thing i've cut a lot of carbs, BUT.... the reason for the lowcarb diet is the medicine works against insulin resistance and is technically a diabetic medication. From personal experience if you eat too much sugary/carby foods you get a very strong laxative effect. So far I feel much more human than i have of late and am hoping it keeps going well. Typical results for women on PCOS is 3months of medication=pregnancy. I'm hoping we don't have to go to further extremes to conceive as to have to take medication for that, but we'll see what this does. Dave's super supportive and is very willing to eat he sugary/carby things for me. :) Anyway I suppose I should get back to work.... I've got training at any minute now.

YAY!!!! I am SO happy for you! I know how much you've always wanted a baby, and now to know that it could be so near on the horizon! Oh, and I should say, it's about time (and I'm saying that to the heavens) because of all of the many people I know you are one of the few whom I know will be a FANTASTIC mother and will truely cherish how cool it is to be one!
Love Sam (and Gage and Billy and Elle)

I am so glad the doctor was finally able to pin point the problem. I miss seeing you.
